Vote in a School Election and Verify Your Ballot

Cast an anonymous ballot one position at a time, then use the receipt code shown after submitting to confirm later that the ballot was counted.

For School administrators, Teachers, Students, Parents, Staff, Accountants. Updated 2026-09-18.

Overview

Voting is fully anonymous by design — the system never stores any link between a voter and their ballot, so nobody, including school staff, can look up how a specific person voted.

A voter opens the Elections Portal and selects Vote, then works through each position one at a time: pick a candidate (up to the position's selection limit), write in a name if the election allows it, or abstain if that's enabled. A position with exactly one candidate becomes a yes/no confidence vote instead of an automatic win.

After reviewing the full ballot, submitting is final and cannot be changed or resubmitted.

On the thank-you screen the voter receives a one-time receipt code, which is the only way to later confirm the ballot was counted — the public https://portal.myschoolgh.com/elections/verify page accepts that code and reports only that a ballot was received, never its contents, so the receipt can never be used to prove a particular choice to anyone else.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Open the Elections Portal and select Vote
  2. Select the election that is currently open
  3. For each position, choose a candidate, write in a name (if allowed), vote yes/no if the position is unopposed, or abstain (if allowed)
  4. Review the full ballot on the review step
  5. Confirm and submit — this cannot be undone or changed afterward
  6. Save the receipt code shown on the confirmation screen
  7. Check https://portal.myschoolgh.com/elections/verify at any time with that code to confirm the ballot was counted

Common problems

An election I expect to vote in doesn't appear

Eligibility is locked in the moment an election is scheduled. Anyone who joined the audience (enrolled, changed class, etc.) after that point is not automatically added and must wait for the next election.

"You have already voted" when trying to submit again

A ballot can only be submitted once; this also protects against accidental double-submission from a page reload or two open tabs.

The receipt code says the ballot wasn't found

Check carefully for typos — codes use an alphabet with visually similar characters removed (no 0/O, 1/I/L) — and confirm it was copied from the confirmation screen, since it is shown only once.

The receipt confirms the ballot was counted but doesn't show what was voted for

This is intentional. The receipt only proves a ballot was counted, never its contents, so nobody — including the voter — can use it to prove a choice to someone else, which is what protects against vote-buying or pressure.
