Publish an Assessment and Enter Marks
Publish a Draft assessment to unlock marks entry, optionally configure attempt and late-submission policies, then save scores.
For School administrators, Teachers. Updated 2026-08-01.
Overview
Marks entry is only unlocked once an assessment is published; publishing a Draft assessment moves it forward. Assessment setup allows configuring max attempts, an attempt policy (highest, latest, average, or teacher-selected), late submission handling with a penalty percentage, and a lock time.
A rubric and due-date extensions per student can also be configured. Marks are entered per student in a table bounded to the assessment's total marks.
Before you start
- Create the assessment
Steps
- Open the assessment from Assessments
- Select Publish to unlock marks entry
- Optionally configure attempt policy, late penalty, lock time, and rubric under Assessment Setup
- Enter each student's score and optional feedback in Student Marks
- Save Marks
- Select Close once marking is complete
Common problems
Marks cannot be entered
Publish the assessment before recording submitted marks; Draft assessments block marks entry.
A due-date extension will not save
Both a student and a new due date must be selected before Grant extension becomes available.
