Take a Class Register in the Log Attendance Drawer

The Log Attendance drawer loads the class roster for a date, defaults to unmarked students, lets you set Present, Absent, Late or Excused, and saves after a confirmation.

For School administrators, Teachers. Updated 2026-10-09.

Overview

Log Attendance opens a side drawer with two switches, Students and Staff. In Students mode pick a Class and a Date. The roster loads active enrolled students sorted by last name; students with no saved record yet show no status. Each student has four buttons: Present, Absent, Late, Excused, and a Mark all shortcut sets everyone at once.

Saving asks 'Save attendance sheet?' and then replaces the class and date's records in one step (existing records for that class and date are deleted and rewritten, so the sheet always matches what you saved).

Every student you send must be actively enrolled in the selected class, otherwise the save fails with 'One or more students do not belong to the selected class'. A saved sheet is a draft: it is editable and appears in History as a draft. Finalize and Reverse buttons sit beside Save attendance; see the finalize entry for locking.

Overview also has a Today's registers card with 'Not taken yet' classes and a take-register shortcut that opens the drawer pre-filled with that class and today's date. Each save is written to the audit log as attendance.mark.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Open Attendance > Overview & Logs and select Log Attendance (or use Take register on a class in Today's registers)
  2. Keep Students selected and choose the Class
  3. Choose the Date (defaults to today)
  4. Set each student's status, or use Mark all then adjust exceptions
  5. Select Save attendance and confirm in the Save attendance sheet dialog
  6. Select Finalize when the register is complete and should be locked

Common problems

The roster is empty

Only students with an Active enrollment in that class appear. Check enrollment status under Students or Classes.

Saving shows 'One or more students do not belong to the selected class'

A student was moved or unenrolled after the sheet loaded. Close the drawer, reopen the class and save again.

All statuses reset after saving a different date

Statuses belong to a class and date pair. Reopen the correct date to see the saved sheet.
