Set and track staff goals
Goals live on My Performance > My goals (staff) or Appraisals & Training > Goals (HR). A goal has a title, due date, status and 0-100% progress; HR can set goals for others.
For Teachers, Staff, Accountants, School administrators, HR managers. Updated 2026-10-09.
Overview
A goal records something a staff member intends to achieve, optionally linked to an appraisal cycle. Click Add goal and enter Goal (3 to 160 characters, e.g. "Complete a classroom management course"), Details (optional), Due date (optional), and for HR a Staff member (defaults to Me).
Staff with appraisal:self can only add goals for themselves; setting a goal for someone else needs the “add appraisal” permission and notifies that person ("A goal was set for you"). Goal statuses: Not started, In progress, Done and Dropped, with Progress from 0 to 100.
Status and progress stay in sync automatically: setting Done makes progress 100; reaching 100% marks it Done; any progress between 1 and 99 moves a Not started goal to In progress; setting Not started with no progress resets it to 0. A goal past its due date that is not Done or Dropped is flagged Overdue.
Use Update to change progress/status and the remove action ("Remove this goal?") to delete (toast "Goal removed"). Staff can only change their own goals ("You can only change your own goals."); users with the “edit appraisal” permission can change anyone's. Managers see all staff goals with search, status filters and a staff filter; staff see only theirs.
The Overview tab shows total, in-progress and done goal counts.
