Handle someone not on the list or turn a collector away
Use Someone not on the list (requires a guardian call note) or Turn someone away (requires a reason) on the Dismissal Desk.
For School administrators, Teachers, Staff. Updated 2026-10-09.
Overview
When a person is not on the child's authorised list, select the child on the Dismissal Desk and press Someone not on the list. Call the guardian on file and ask them to confirm the person. Enter the Name of the person collecting and, in the note, Who you spoke to and what they confirmed (at least 5 characters).
The release is recorded with the method Guardian called and counted under Not on the list in the summary tiles. The system refuses an unlisted release without the guardian-call method ("Someone who is not on the list can only collect once a guardian has confirmed by phone") or without a name and note.
To refuse a collection, press Turn someone away, enter the Name of the person turned away and Why was the hand-over refused (at least 3 characters). The refusal is logged as Refused, appears in red in Today's hand-overs and the Hand-over log, and the guardians are notified ("Pick-up refused ... The school will be in touch if needed").
Both actions need the “add pick-up” permission.
Before you start
- The “add pick-up” permission permission
- A phone number for the guardian on file for unlisted releases
Steps
- On the Dismissal Desk search and select the student
- For an unlisted person select Someone not on the list
- Call the guardian, then enter the collector name and a note naming who confirmed
- Select Confirm release
- To refuse someone, select Turn someone away instead
- Enter the person's name and the reason, then select Record refusal
Common problems
Confirm release stays disabled for an unlisted person
The name must be at least 2 characters and the note at least 5 characters describing the guardian confirmation.
Record refusal is disabled
Enter the person's name (2+ characters) and a reason of at least 3 characters.
Does a refusal count as a release?
No. Refusals are shown separately as Turned away and never mark the child as released.
