Allocate Fees to a Class
Choose a term, class, and fee category, adjust the amount if needed, exclude specific students, and generate bills.
For School administrators, Accountants. Updated 2026-08-01.
Overview
Fee allocation creates a bill for each selected student in a class for a chosen fee category and term, auto-filling the amount from the category default. Students can be individually excluded, and a per-student discount can be applied directly in the allocation grid.
Overwriting an existing bill that is already fully paid is blocked, and an overwrite amount cannot be set lower than what has already been paid against it.
Before you start
- Create at least one fee category
- Have a class with active enrollments
Steps
- Open Payments > Fee Allocation
- Select Allocate fees
- Choose the academic term, class, and fee category
- Adjust the amount and collection priority if needed
- Uncheck students to exclude, and set discounts inline where needed
- Choose whether to overwrite existing bills
- Save
Common problems
Allocation fails because the term is closed
Fees cannot be allocated into a closed academic term; choose the current or a still-open term.
Overwrite fails on a specific student
A bill that is already fully paid cannot be overwritten, and a new overwrite amount cannot be lower than the amount already paid; reverse the payment first if a correction is truly needed.
