Clock Staff In With Badge Scans or Security Scans

With Security scans staff badges enabled, the kiosk's Scan badge button or a guard's scanner clocks staff in and out from their personal QR.

For School administrators. Updated 2026-10-09.

Overview

Badge scanning helps staff without smartphones or when a screen is down. Turn on Security scans staff badges in How staff clock in (it is also a toggle on the Staff QR tab together with Staff scan the school QR and Allow checkout). On the kiosk screen a Scan your badge button appears when this is enabled; it opens the camera for the badge QR.

Staff are matched by their personal QR token or their user ID, email or phone, within this school only and never students or parents. Results show 'Welcome, Name' (with '(late)' when past shift start plus grace), 'Goodbye, Name', or 'You are already clocked out for today'.

Scanning the same badge again within the minimum gap returns 'you scanned a moment ago' and logs a Too soon event. A signed-in admin or security user can also scan from the app via staff security scan with the “add attendance” permission; security scans mark a first scan as Late and are audit logged. Badge clock-ins are not location checked.
