HR Manager role: dashboard and what it can access
HR Managers get a people dashboard with leave, contracts, hiring pipeline and open positions, and manage recruitment, contracts, leave, appraisals and training. Payroll approval and loan payouts stay with Admin/Accountant.
For HR managers, School administrators. Updated 2026-10-09.
Overview
The HR Manager role (userType HR_MANAGER) lands on a dedicated dashboard instead of the standard one.
Cards include Away today (staff on approved leave), Leave waiting for a decision (links to its own link), Contracts to watch (contracts ending within 60 days, links to https://portal.myschoolgh.com/contracts), Hiring pipeline (applicants by stage, links to Recruitment), Positions open now (open postings with applicant counts), Staff by role and Recently joined (staff added in the last 30 days).
Headline counts include headcount, staff on leave, pending leave, loans waiting, expiring and expired contracts, active applicants, interviews this week and open slots.
The HR Manager role holds full recruitment permissions (create, read, update, delete), full appraisal permissions (the “add appraisal” permission, read, update and self), full training permissions (the “add training” permission, read, update, self), plus HR and contract access and leave management.
Sidebar entries for them under Human Resources & Admin: HR & Payroll, Leave Manager, Staff Loans, Recruitment, Contracts and Appraisals & Training. Per the permission design, payroll approval and money movements such as loan approval and payouts stay with the Admin and Accountant; an HR Manager can view HR payroll but does not release funds.
Directors have read-only visibility of recruitment, appraisals and training.

The counts come from Recruitment. Create a job posting and receive applicants to populate Hiring pipeline and Positions open now.
A new HR user sees no HR menu items.
The HR feature must be enabled for the school and the user must have the HR Manager role.
