Edit Academic Year Dates, Current, and Next Year
Adjust an academic year date range, promote it to Current, or mark it as Next for term closure and calendar rollover.

Overview
An academic year date range can be edited only while no term inside the year has been closed. Once a term inside the year is closed, the year shows as Locked and its dates cannot be changed. Setting a year as Current automatically unsets the previous current year.
Setting a different year as Next marks it as the destination year when the current term is closed. The current year itself cannot also be the next year.
Steps
- Open Setup > Academic Years & Terms
- Find the year to change
- Select Edit dates (only available on unlocked years) to change the start or end date
- Select Set current to make it the active year
- Select Set as next to mark it for term closure planning
Common problems
Edit dates is unavailable
The academic year contains a closed term and is locked; dates cannot be changed once a term has been closed.
Set as next is unavailable on the current year
The current academic year cannot also be marked as next; choose a different year.
